Transitions

In 6 weeks, Restoration will be worshiping in a new space…  and for 300-400 of you, at a new time.

There is excitement about the opportunity to crowd everybody in the same room, to sing real loud, to see people at the same time each week, to have dinner after we worship together.  As a church, we are very thankful for a place that gives space for us to be Restoration during this season of construction.

And yet, I am also mourning.  I love our spot on Quincy Street.  I love the miracles that have happened in this old building.  I love how familiar it feels and smells and looks.

My mourning is a nice bitter to the sweetness of my excitement.

And it means you never know if I’m going to be crying or laughing…  fun times.

We have a team of people who are facilitating this transition.  We have divided the tasks that need to happen into 5 parts, 5 sub-teams, 5 posses, if you will.  All those posses have room for more riders if you want to jump in and help make this transition happen.  Let me introduce you to the wranglers:

• The Little Falls Excitement Team is lead by Endel Liias, Kate Raymond, and Andrew Gibbons.  These are the folks who are going to tell you how awesome our new space is.  They are funny, cute, and funny.  Jump on this team if you’ve ever dreamed of being in a ‘skit’.
• The Neighborhood Team is lead by Griffin Foster.  He is looking for a few cow-pokes who will help him keep the folks on Quincy Street aware of what happened to us.  ‘Where are all the people?  Where are the donuts?  What happened to that shuttle?  Why isn’t anyone ghost-riding the whip at 7:30am?
• Food, Folks, and Fun.  It’s what we’ve done.  It’s what we’ll do.  Whitney Casstevens and Trent Rowe have a team of awesomeness that is planning after-worship dinners and pre-worship fun.  Since we are all worshiping at one time, we should take advantage of all that togetherness and get to know each other.
• Kid Small Groups.  Louise Brooks, Lawrie Green, and Isaiah Brooms are taking what our kids love here and figuring out how to do it there.  There are logistics to finalize, volunteers to recruit, cheerios to purchase, and toys to sanitize.  We’ve got fun spaces to work with and they are looking for fun people to plan with.
• Volunteers, Volunteers, Volunteers.  When you are running 3 services, it takes a lot of people to read, ush, serve communion, greet, run keynote and stuff.  When you have just 1 service, it STILL takes a lot of people to do all that–  and you have to create how to do it in a new place!!  George Patterson has been working with Erin Bair and Matt Hoppe to develop systems so that all of our FANTASTIC volunteers can quickly find their way in the new space.  They would love for you to jump in with them.
