Congratulations! We are excited that you are interested in either being baptized or having one of your children baptized.  It is our hope that by making this serious commitment to follow Jesus Christ, you will invite Him to be a part of your life, live consciously in the presence of God, and to call on Him daily for His wisdom and love.

What are the requirements for getting baptized?

If you are presenting your child for baptism, at least one of the parents must be an active, baptized member at Restoration.  If you an adult seeking baptism, we are pleased you are taking this step and the clergy would love to chat with you about what it means to you in your walk as a Christian.

When are the next baptism Sundays?

During this time of social distancing, we will host Yard Baptisms at Restoration.  Clergy will celebrate the Baptism liturgy for families and their guests in the backyard of Restoration after the Sunday Service starting at 11:30am.  While baptisms will take place after Sunday service in the sanctuary, you do not need to attend and may arrive just for the Baptism of your child. You may invite family and friends but we ask you limit attendance to 10 people per family.

The upcoming dates for Yard Baptisms (weather permitting) are:

  • November 1, 2020
  • April 25, 2021
  • May 23, 2021 (Pentecost)
  • June 20, 2021

What do I have to do?

We ask that you attend one of the preparation meeting below before your baptism.  Both parents of babies being baptized should attend.  These meetings will be via Zoom and are mandatory.  This is your opportunity to ask questions and spend time with clergy. The upcoming dates for preparation are:

  • October 27, 2020

What can I expect when I arrive at Restoration for a Yard Baptism?

If you are not attending the service in the sanctuary prior to baptism, please arrive at 11:15am and go directly to the backyard. We ask you to keep your family number limited to no more than 10 people (including you, your children and your baby).

Below are a few other key pieces of info that are slightly different from the past:

  • Families will stay in groups, socially distanced from other families.
  • When it is your child’s turn, you will come forward.
  • Parents will present and hold their child throughout the Baptism.
  • Clergy will pour the water and bless the child while parents are holding them.
  • Clergy will be wearing a mask and a protective shield on their face.
  • All 3 clergy will be baptizing children. After a clergy person baptizes a child, they will go into the building and wash their hands. The next clergy person will baptize the next child and so on. In other words, clergy will rotate and wash in between.
  • Bathrooms are available as needed. We ask that only one household unit be in the bathroom at a time.

If you are interested in having your child baptized please fill out the form below.  We will send you the Zoom link to your preparation meeting along with confirmation of your registration. If you are an adult and interested in being baptized, please reach your to Kathy Kenyon directly.
