Casa Chirilagua / Dawnielle Miller

At its heart, Casa Chirilagua is a group of people who are committed to loving and serving Hispanic neighborhoods in Alexandria, VA, and learning together what it means to “love our neighbors as ourselves.” Casa Chirilagua’s programs seek ways to engage with families and meet needs in the Chirilagua neighborhood, so that Chirilagua might be transformed by the love of Christ.

Casa Chirilagua’s programs include:

  • Kids’ Club, an after-school program for grades 1-5 that combines Bible lessons, reading and homework help, field trips, and community service projects.
  • Middle school tutoring for 6th and 7th graders at GW Middle School. By adding a grade each year, Casa Chirilagua hopes to walk alongside children from first grade through high school graduation.
  • Mentoring, so that each student participating in a Casa Chirilagua program has an opportunity to build a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
