High Street Hymns
As many of you know I have a passion for using music as a unifying tool, and I desire to promote anything that helps bridge generation or cultural gaps within the Church. Alex Mejias, the primary song-writer for High Street Hymns, is making a career of doing this through retooling older hymns and sharing them with diverse congregations. Alex wrote two songs in Restoration’s musical canon (“By Thy Mercy” and “Praise My Soul the King of Heaven”)and led Restoration’s musical worship at the 2011 fall retreat. Many people from our congregation value his contributions. So I would like you to know that they have a new cd and will be having a concert locally on November 2nd.
Love Lives Again is Alex’s latest project, and its focused is reconciliation. Its goal is to break out of the typical musical “worship” box thereby expressing God’s desire for his people to break out of the cultural, social, and denominational boxes that we have created in the Church. Check out the video below to learn more.
