Announcements – October 13, 2013
No Restoration service next Sunday. Over 200 of us will be away at the fall retreat, so there will be no service at 5:00 pm. There are lots of other great places to worship, though (including the LFPC services at 9:30 and 11), so please visit one. See you back here on Oct. 27th!
Man up. This Tues., Oct. 15 at 7:30 pm, Restoration men will have the opportunity to “train themselves for godliness.” We’ll gather once a month for 7 months in the Little Falls sanctuary to talk about our character and to connect with potential mentors. Questions? Go to restorationarlington.org/contact and choose “Connect.”
Vestry nominations close today. The vestry are 9 men and women elected by Restoration members to serve as elders, overseeing our finances and facilities and providing spiritual leadership to the church. Each year we elect 3 new members for a 3-year term. Anyone can nominate; send nominations to nominations@restorationarlington.org. Elections will be Nov. 10 and 17.
Benevolence fund: Restoration maintains a benevolence fund to provide assistance to people in our community who have financial need. If you need some help because of the government shutdown or other circumstances, contact Kat: kat@restorationarlington.org.
Love Arlington at A-SPAN. A-SPAN provides shelter and food to Arlington’s homeless population during the winter. This Thurs., Oct. 17, at 6:30 pm, we’ll help clean and prepare the shelter for the upcoming season. Meet at 2049 15th St. N., Arlington, 22201. Contact Lauren to sign up: laurenvbreeden@gmail.com.
All Saints’ Day: On Nov. 1, the church celebrates the “communion of the saints,” all of God’s people throughout time and around the world. If you have a loved one who has died in the last year, please send us a photo for a slideshow we’ll include in worship on Nov. 3. Email photos to Matt by Tues., Oct. 29: matt@restorationarlington.org.
Bridging the Youth Gap: Be part of a team Clay’s building to connect with local youth who aren’t part of Restoration. Our first brainstorming session is Thurs., Oct. 24 at 7:30 pm. For more info, contact Clay: go to restorationarlington.org/contact and choose “Youth Ministry.”
Turkey Trot: The Tradition Continues. Once again we’re sponsoring this Thanksgiving morning 5k fun run/walk in Lyon Park to benefit AFAC and other Arlington organizations.
