Heidi Baker – edited specifically to highlight healings
Below was some of my quick feedback to my instructor after watching the original interview. If you would like to see the uncut version let me know. There is some explicit material about some of the difficulties people experienced:
Dr Heidi Baker’s healing ministry is rooted in her love for Jesus. It is characterized by an amazing submission to align herself with whatever the Lord is doing and accepting the mystery that surrounds whatever he is choosing or not choosing to do. Here are some of the things that stood out to me concerning her ministry.
She received a powerful prophecy which pointed to amazing healings in Mozambique followed by a year of no healings. She continued to pray for every blind person she came across until three blind women with her name received sight, and the Lord taught her more about his heart for healing and the church.
She has been amazed by the power of soaking prayer for people like Davidino who, over a long period of time, went from being non-responsive to completely healed. She admits that immediate healings are amazing but that we need to be sure to lean into the importance of prayer and healing over a long period of time.
Then at times she has experienced an “open heaven” over a specific realm. For example every deaf person who was Mozambiquan Macua had significant improvement or complete healing in their hearing if they were prayed for and thousands of Mozambiquan Macua people have committed their lives to Jesus because of this.
Heidi also emphasizes the importance of doctors and taking care of your body in order to pursue health. On the contrary she gives glory to God for the doctor who helped the blind man who had a tumor even though he is still physically blind.
Her hope and faith in Jesus to heal is marked with a diversity of methods, processes, and outcomes, but ultimately she just wants to continually experience the blessing of God’s love. “I want to be in love. I want to be more and more in love. I don’t want to trade power for love. I don’t want to trade success for love…I don’t want to trade healing for love.” Daily she chooses to have him first, and this positions her to hear from the Father and follow his will. And her goal is to bring her team into that place so that they as a team will hear more of the revelation of the Father. Like Jesus, her desire is to do the will of the Father, the one who sent her to the place where she now is in order to do his work.
