Nogales Shoe Boxes

At the Apex Christmas Party this year, we’re partnering with our friends at Cuirim House to collect shoe boxes that they can share with those who are in need in Nogales, Mexico this Christmas. Apex has taken a trip to Nogales the past two summers and will be returning in the summer of 2024.

If you’d like to fill a shoe box, complete the form below. 

Shoe boxes are to be filled with the following items:

  • 1 child’s toothbrush
  • Pens, pencils, small box of crayons
  • Pencil sharpener or eraser
  • As many small toys as can fit in the box (matchbox car, bouncy balls, hair accessories, tiny plush toys)
  • New children’s socks. (Don’t worry about the size. If the size doesn’t fit the child who opens the box, he will trade with another child for a size that fits.)
  • For children in the 10-14 age range, please consider t-shirts, pencils/pens, earphones, toothbrush, hair ties, etc.

Contributing $10 per shoe box helps Cuirim House to cover the cost of getting the boxes across the border. 

Shoe boxes are provided by Restoration and can be picked up from Lexi’s desk on the 3rd floor at Restoration on Sunday, December 10, after the 9am or 11am service. If you’d like to pick up box(es) another time, please email Ryan or Lexi (apex@restorationarlington.org) to coordinate. 

Bring your filled shoe box(es) to Restoration at the Apex Christmas Party on December 10. After that, Apex will ship the shoe boxes to Cuirim House, who will bring the boxes across the border to Nogales. 

Additional instructions:

  • The boxes are very small! It will not take much to fill one up. 

  • Choose whether you are filling a box for a Boy or Girl and the age of the child. Write on the box “BOY/Niño” or “GIRL/Niña” and the age range 2-4, 5-9, 10-14. Please mark the age on all boxes.

  • Purchase items from the list above. Please purchase only items that are listed, no candy/food/toothpaste. Please fill your box to the brim.

  • Fold your box closed. Do not tape.
