Wardens’ Report: March 2022
March 23, 2022
The 2022 Vestry met on Tuesday, March 22, for our third monthly meeting of the year.
Adam Guzzo led us in an extended time of prayer. We gave thanks for the impact of Chris Stephen’s on our church, and asked God to protect and bless him and his family as they transition back to New York in June. We also asked for God’s provision and guidance as we seek Chris’ replacement and the courage to trust Him through the process. We prayed for healing and comfort for many on the Vestry that are hurting in body and soul and gave thanks for those experiencing joy. We also gave thanks to God for our Associate Rector, Nathan. We are grateful for his leadership of the wonderful RestoMen Retreat this past weekend and prayed for God to provide him rest and renewal during his upcoming sabbatical. Finally, we lifted up our staff as they prepared for their first staff retreat since 2019.
After our time of prayer, the Vestry approved the February 2022 minutes and a motion to enter into our February minutes the decision we made earlier in the month (via email) to remove our previous mask guidance.
The Chair of our Finance Advisory Team, Dan Vogel, shared a positive update that giving for the fiscal year continues to be significantly above budget, with expenses slightly below, despite February giving coming in below what we projected. He also noted that in-person attendance is growing and YTL viewing remains steady. Dan and Assistant Treasurer, Meaghan Maguire, along with our Finance Team, will kick off our FY23 budget planning process in April.
We closed our meeting with an update from the Chair of our Personnel Advisory Team, Dennis Wong. It was great to hear that it’s been a seamless transition integrating our two newest staff members, Callie and Meredith. They have hit the ground running and are providing much needed support to our church operations and Kids’ Small Groups. We are grateful for Kat’s thoughtful leadership in planning the Staff Retreat this week and the opportunities it will provide for continued cohesion among our staff. We are also fortunate to have an experienced Personnel Advisory Team that will lead us as we seek Chris’s replacement.
We welcome your questions, encouragement, feedback, and most of all, your prayers. You can read an archive of past Wardens’ Reports on our website or Vestry Meeting minutes on CCB, under the ‘Files’ tab in the ‘Entire Church Group’
