“What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me. I will keep my promises to the Lord in the presence of all his people.” Psalm 116:12-14
Laurel and I invited people to our home in June 2008. It was the beginning of prayer for a new church in Arlington. We called it The Arlington Project. Later it would become Restoration Anglican Church. This is me and Laurel standing at the front door of the house we rented for our first few years in Arlington.
Our first Sunday of public worship was January 25, 2009. These are images from that first day. We were packed in to a small baptist church on N. Quincy Street. We had lots of guests and lots of dreams. The Arlington Project was now called, Restoration Arlington.
This is the cover and back page of our first worship guide. We talked about the good news of grace. My first sermon was called, ‘The Appearance of Something that Changes Everything.’ I’m pretty sure I cried in the middle of it.
At that time, I could not have imagined how much Restoration would change my life in the 15 years that followed.
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him! Let the amen sound from His people again; Gladly forever adore Him.
All Praise to Thee my God This Night
I often come back to this song at the end of my Sundays. There is so much gratitude in my heart after a day of worship with you.
God is faithful. You are dear friends. Our calling to the needs of this world is real.
It’s been a GREAT 15 years. Good Things have Grown Here.
I can’t wait to celebrate with you on Sunday at the 8:00, 9:30, and 11:15. I hope you can be with us!
