Rector’s Update: looking forward to the weekend!
Dear Restoration,
I have been exuberant in my Holy Week and Easter descriptions to friends and family. I keep thinking of more things that I loved! The foot washing, the removal of everything from the chancel, walking the cross to the church, walking through the stations of the cross, listening to the reflections from our community on Jesus’ seven last words, singing old hymns, hearing the hammer drill as it removed the screws from the cross so it could be carried out, arranging the flowers in the sanctuary, gathering in the cold on Saturday night, singing the Eucharist, celebrating the end of our Lenten fasts, worshiping with over 750 people at three services on Sunday… it was a feast for my soul, for our souls. Thank you for entering in with us. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.
As you think about your plans for this coming weekend, I want to remind you of two things:
1. Race, Reconciliation, and Peacemaking: Friday night. You can read a short description of the event here or you can read a longer invitation to all of our race+reconciliation plans here. Remember food will be served from 6-7 pm in our parking lot. It is going to be a BEAUTIFUL evening. The program starts at 7 in our sanctuary. You must register ahead of time if you need childcare during the program from 7-9 (no childcare during dinner). Please let us know that you are coming!
2. 10 Great Dates: starts Saturday night. This is exactly how it sounds– ten great dates for married couples. Each week, all the couples show up at the church, says hi, drop their kids off for childcare, and then head out to a restaurant for a date with their spouse and conversation prompts from the book, 10 Great Dates to Energize your Marriage. This is a fantastic investment in your marriage and Restoration is covering the childcare in a place your kids already love: our Kids’ Small Group Rooms! You can sign up for this (and all our small groups) right here. 10 Great Dates is small group #21. If you have specific questions about what to expect, email Siri Mitchell.
There ya go! 2 great ideas for your upcoming weekend and both have childcare if you need it.
See you on Sunday for the kickoff of our sermon series on Acts and the start of our Spring trimester of small groups!
