Rector’s Update: From Our Fears And Sins Release Us
Dear Restoration,
It brings me great joy to announce to you the Restoration Vestry Class of 2026:
Please join me in giving thanks to God for everyone who was a part of the vestry selection process and thanks to God for leading the members of Restoration to select these three as the next group of vestry elders who will serve among us.
The 2024 Vestry gets started on January 16th. My heartfelt thanks to Dennis Wong, Mary Jo Binker, and Karen McNeilly who will be concluding their three years of vestry service at that time. They served from 2021 to 2023 and held a steady, prayerful hand as our church emerged from the pandemic, walked through a bishop election, and experienced significant numerical growth. Thank you my friends. I am grateful for what we accomplished together with God’s help.
Looking forward to Advent 2 with you on Sunday!
-David
An Update from Lexi McMann
Lexi has been serving as the Associate Director of High School Apex and we are SO grateful for the creative ways she has discipled students and urged them to grow closer to Jesus. I love that she created our partnership with Cuirim House to serve immigrants in Nogales. I love that she leads Apex band in such a compelling way that we barely have room in the chancel for everyone who wants to participate. Lexi and Ryan have been so effective in their partnership and God has significantly grown our youth ministry! Hallelujah!
We are entering a season of change for Apex. I want to share with you what Lexi has already shared with the Apex community. As she suggests, Restoration is working hard to discern who will provide staff leadership for Apex for our next generation of students and volunteers. Please join me in giving thanks for Lexi, in praying for her and Apex as they move through this transition, and in asking God to raise up who is needed for Apex next.
A note from Lexi:
It has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my adult life to head up the High School ministry at Restoration since fall 2020! Through a long period of discernment and prayer (since returning at 30 hours a week from maternity leave in January 2023), I’ve decided to begin rolling back my hours in early 2024.
The Personnel team at Restoration is hard at work on a job description to be posted soon, and I’ll be able to share in person (and in more detail) what this will mean for Apex on December 3rd. There is a good plan forming! I’ll be present as an Apex leader at least through the end of the school year, and still plan to lead the Nogales mission trip. I look forward to all that God has in store for me personally, and for the Apex community in the midst of this change. My desire is to make this transition as smooth as possible for leaders and students, and we appreciate your prayers over the process!
We still have opportunities with our
Glebe Star Tree Outreach.
We are so grateful to be able to partner with our neighborhood school, Glebe Elementary, to provide gifts for the children of under-resourced families. There are still about 100 specific gifts to be purchased. Would you consider participating by getting a gift?
We’re asking that gifts be brought to Restoration by 2pm on Sunday, December 10. Have questions or want to know more? Louise can help! (703-209-2730)
