Announcements – November 10, 2013
Vestry elections begin today. All Restoration members are eligible and encouraged to vote for three people to join our board of elders. Voting will be in the narthex after the service today and next Sunday.
Man Up. This Tues., Nov. 12, at 7:30 pm, Restoration men will have the opportunity to “train themselves for godliness.” We’re gathering once a month for 7 months in the Little Falls sanctuary to talk about our character and to connect with potential mentors. This month’s topic: selflessness. Questions? Go to restorationarlington.org/contact and choose “Connect.”
Operation Christmas Child: Start saving those shoeboxes! Fill them with holiday gifts for children in need around the world. We’ll collect them the next two Sundays, Nov. 17 and Nov. 24, in the narthex. If you need a Ready-to-Go shoebox, they’re available in the narthex today. Questions? Contact Cara Voth at cara.voth@gmail.com.
Film Screening: 3 AM Girls, a documentary by journalist Lisa Ling, uncovers the face of sex trafficking here in the DC area. We will show the film on Wed., Nov. 20, from 7:30–9:30 pm here at Little Falls. Tina Frundt, founder of Courtney’s House (a local anti-trafficking and after-care organization), will be present to take questions after the film. Questions? Contact Lauren Breeden: laurenvbreeden@gmail.com.
Turkey Trot: The Tradition Continues. Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, and with it the Turkey Trot—a Thanksgiving morning 5k fun run/walk in Lyon Park to benefit AFAC and other Arlington organizations. Restoration is one of the sponsors, and we need volunteers to help hand out water to runners. Turkey costumes optional but highly encouraged. Contact Mary Ann Calhoun: macalhoun24@gmail.com.
Women’s Retreat: Save the date! Ladies of Restoration: Mark your calendars for Feb. 21–23, when we’ll gather at the beautiful Capital Retreat Center in southern PA for a great weekend of connection, community, and fun. Our own Connally Gilliam will be speaking. Registration coming soon!
Open small group: This group will stay open through the rest of the trimester. Wednesdays, 7:30 pm at the Kenyons’: 3605 N. Upland St., Arlington, 22207. Led by Liz and Simon Gray. Just drop in—no need to sign up. All are welcome.
Do you get our weekly e-newsletter? If not, you’re missing out on the best way to stay connected to what’s happening at Restoration. Drop an email to info@restorationarlington.org to subscribe.
Can we pray for you? Every Sunday, there are teams of trained prayer ministers at the front of the sanctuary who would love to pray for you. Nothing’s too big or too small to be prayed for. Just make your way to the front after the service.
