Paul accepted the fact that he was Jesus’ prisoner. That gives me courage and a willing heart to do much less: accept that the work that i’m doing this week —which is so hard— this is the work that Jesus has given me to do. Me. Now. He is IN it. He prepared me to do it. He prepared it for ME. I’m to do it well and keep my heart open as a conduit for his grace and mercy to flow to the people i’m serving, no matter how difficult they may appear. He adores them; He adores me.
I can do it for another day.

That’s a great insight Anne. As emotional as the first part of the sermon was for me, I think the second part where he talks about his vocation as a gift of grace was even more. Whatever the day holds– it’s a grace from the Lord. I’d love to live with that perspective.
