Gettin’ Involved
On Sunday, we had over 40 people sign the ‘Big Green Book’ (TM pending). These folks made commitments to each other and the other ‘signees’ that they are baptized followers of Jesus, that they will deliberately give their time, talent, and treasure to building God’s Kingdom through Restoration, and that they will be active participants in Restoration small groups.
It is a profound thing to look at other people and say I’m committed to you and to this missional journey. It is unusual in our culture to say to a group of people–
‘I’m in this. I know there will be days I am thrilled about that and days that I am not as excited. But, this is my intentional choice to say ‘I belong to us’.
I am thankful for all the people who worship with us each week and wrestle with Scripture in small groups and give their resources to reach out to others. I am deeply humbled by those who have taken steps of tangible commitment– ‘I’m in. Let’s do this.’ What a joy to watch folks sign the book…
In related news, I get lots of questions about ‘how can I get more involved?‘ We have made it as easy as possible for you to tell us your ideas, to tell us the ministry things you are doing, to indicate your desire to be on a team. If you read this whole page, you can see links to our calendar, to volunteer opportunities on Sunday morning, to local outreach and global outreach ideas. There are more things to do than you have time/space to do them! But may I encourage you to choose one thing! Getting to read, serve communion, or lead a small group of kids is a great way to serve on Sundays and we have lots of opportunities!! And if you are wondering who is facilitating the various teams that empower our church to do what it does. We have those people listed out here as well.
How are you using your time, talent, and treasure to build God’s Kingdom?
How would you like to use them at Restoration?
I’m always open to your ideas– they are the best ones we get!
