Tuesday Brain Dump
Howdy Folks,
West Virginia
I am in the throes of packing myself and 2 boys as we get ready to head out with our team to West Virginia. I am really excited! We have over 50 people going from our little church. What an opportunity to be stretched, to serve, to get to know people in a context that doesn’t happen in Arlington, and to use power tools. I love the conversations that happen on job sites and early in the morning when you wake for breakfast and your back hurts. Short Mission trips like this afford those rare opportunities to deepen friendship and round out our discipleship. Plus we are taking a bunch of kids– and it is fun to see them get a taste of serving and living together.
Please pray for us– safety, connection to the people in Philippi, WV, good times with the Lord, and encouragement for all.
Matthew
On Sunday we wrapped up about 7 months of work in Matthew. I am so thankful for how the Lord has met us during our time in Scripture. You all have dug deep during small groups. We have wrestled with brokenness, sin, righteousness, and hope. Jesus is so cool. I have loved this much time with Him and with YOU!! Thank you God for being with us in Matthew.
Esther
During July, Erin will be leading us through the story of Esther. She has found some great themes in that book that are so helpful to us today. I hope that you will track with the whole series– either in Arlington or on the podcast.
Hungry?
Don’t forget on July 10– we have our annual Restoration cook-out. Think moon bounce, water balloons, lots of grills and sweaty cooks, music, booths to get to know our outreach partners, key lime pie… It starts at 3 and we will cancel the 5pm service. So come early, stay late, eat a lot, and laugh even more.
Thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you to small group leaders and Children’s ministry leaders, and APEX leaders. Thanks for opening your homes, your hearts, and pouring into other people. Your discipleship investments will bear tremendous fruit for God’s Kingdom. As a small group member and a parent, I am so thankful for your ministry to me and my family. As a pastor, I am overwhelmed by your gifts of time and service. May you know the pleasure and delight of your Maker!!
I’m off. See you at the picnic on July 10. We’ll have lots of WV stories to tell.
