This is it: the last day to register for the Fall Retreat. You really don’t want to miss it. Two days (Oct. 19-20) in the Shenandoah Valley with the whole Restoration family, plus great teaching from Steve Hayner. So go the website now and register. There will be no Restoration service at Little Falls on Oct. 20.
Special offering today: We know that many of you are federal employees who are furloughed because of the government shutdown and that this may cause financial hardship for you. Today we’re collecting a special offering to be distributed to those in the Restoration community who need assistance because of the shutdown. To contribute, put your special offering in the plain white envelopes in the baskets on the end of the pews, and then place the envelope in the offering basket. (Your regular offering can go straight into the basket.) If you would like to apply to receive assistance, contact Kat Downs at kat@restorationarlington.org.
Volunteer training tonight: Looking for an easy way to connect at Restoration? Join our team of Sunday volunteers. There’s a job for everyone, and it’s a great way to meet other people and serve the church. There’s a training session tonight in the sanctuary at 6:45 pm.
Interested in planning outreach activities for the fall? The Outreach Planning Team (OPT) is meeting this Tues., Oct. 8, at 7:30 pm to plan ways for the Restoration community to serve the poor and vulnerable in our community. Everyone is welcome! Vestry nominations are open. The vestry is the team of nine men and women elected by Restoration members to serve as elders, overseeing our finances and facilities and providing spiritual leadership to the church. Each year we elect three new members for a three-year term. Nominations are open to everyone. Send nominations and questions to nominations@restorationarlington.org. Nominations close Oct. 13. Elections will be Nov. 10 and 17.
Did you miss the chance to sign up for a small group? No worries—there’s a group that will stay open through the rest of the trimester. It’s led by Liz and Simon Gray and meets Wednesdays at 7:30 pm at the Kenyons’: 3605 N. Upland St., Arlington, 22207. Just drop in—no need to sign up. All are welcome.
Man up. On Tues., Oct. 15 at 7:30 pm, Restoration men will have the opportunity to “train themselves for godliness.” We’ll gather once a month for 7 months in the Little Falls sanctuary to talk about our character and to connect with potential mentors. Can we pray for you? Every Sunday, there are teams of trained prayer ministers at the front of the sanctuary who would love to pray for you. Nothing’s too big or too small to be prayed for. Just make your way to the front after the service.
