Wardens’ Report: May 2017
The Wardens’ Report: a brief summary of highlights from monthly Vestry meetings, designed to provide information about our growth, finances, priorities and progress towards our strategic plan.
At our May Vestry meeting on Tuesday, we enjoyed dinner together and prayer at the rail. This month Chris Belen led us through a time of thanksgiving, specifically for Matt Hoppe and the amazing gifts he brings to leading our worship through both song and visual art. We encourage you to also pray for the amazing volunteers that provide such inspiring music each month as well as arts that match our sermon series and seasonal rhythms.
Our April financial report continued to show a solid fiscal position in line with our FY2017 budget. Our average Sunday attendance for the month was 616, 17% growth over the same time last year. Our fiscal year-to-date income is at 103% of our FY17 budget. This financial report keeps us hopeful about the ways we will be able to steward our resources towards the growing ministries on Quincy Street and the forthcoming Church Planting efforts.
On Tuesday, we voted to continue the 5pm service through the month of July but then suspend services from Aug 6th through September 3rd with resumption on September 10th. The 9 and 11 am services will remain the same. As many of you may know, Morgan will be ordained on Sunday, 4 June. We have traditionally designated donations during ordination services to go to organizations outside Restoration. Accordingly, the Vestry voted to donate all giving at the 5pm service on 4 June to Incarnation, our church plant in South Arlington. Morgan will be serving on the leadership team for Incarnation and this is a practical way to support his new ministry context. Please continue to pray both for Morgan and that God will bless our Church Planting efforts in South Arlington and Montgomery County.
As a Vestry, we are humbled and thankful for the multitude of ways God continues to bless our Congregation. Both in the people he raises up and the resources He provides.
As always, if you have questions, concerns, words of wisdom or encouragement, please know that we are open to your feedback. You can read an archive of past Wardens’ Reports on our website or Vestry Meeting minutes on CCB, under the ‘Files’ tab in the ‘Entire Church Group’
