Rector’s Update: Dear Desire of Every Nation
Dear Restoration,
“This is the Good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It began just as the prophet Isaiah had written: ‘Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way. He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord’s Coming! Clear the road for him!'” – Mark 1
This Advent Season has been gorgeous- a quiet retreat day, a beautifully decorated sanctuary, heartfelt stories from our congregation about Jesus’ leading, new music of great hope, old music of longing joy, the anticipation of children, the delight of friendship, the confident assurance that Jesus has come and will come again to comfort us, redeem us, and set us free.
Thank you God for meeting us in our conversations, songs, prayers, and worship. Thank you God for Advent.
I look forward to experiencing Advent 3 with you on Sunday!
– David
A Night of Speaking and Listening
for Members of the Non-Majority Racial and Ethnic Community at Restoration Anglican Church
6:30-8:30pm
Restoration Fellowship Hall
In 2021, Restoration created a Race and Reconciliation Advisory Team that would initiate and support opportunities for reconciliation, justice, and healing from harm that had been experienced in our community because of differences in race, language, and ethnicity. This Advisory Team (like our personnel, finance, facility, and outreach advisory teams) serves the vestry by helping them steward the time and finances of our church towards the opportunities we have:
- To celebrate the beautiful diversity of God’s Kingdom (Rev 7:9)
- To speak up for justice in the broken places of our world (Micah 6:8)
- To pray for and provide instruments of healing for people in our congregation who have been harmed because of racial injustice. (Amos 5:24, Psalm 133)
On January 23, 2024, Restoration is hosting a dinner for our non-majority racial and ethnic community members. We are seeking to hear and learn from each other about our experience at Restoration.
If you are a member of Restoration’s non-majority racial and ethnic community, we would love for you to attend and we would love to send you an invitation. Would you please take a minute and fill out this form? Feel very free to pass this note and this form on to other people at Restoration. We want to make sure everyone is included who is a member of this community.
Thank you so much! We will be in touch soon with an invitation to the dinner on January 23rd: An opportunity to speak and listen to each other about our experience at Restoration.
– David, on behalf of the hosting members of the Race + Reconciliation Advisory Team
