At Restoration, we desire to connect you to God, to others, and to the needs of the world. We have a constellation of outreach partners that give us regular opportunity to serve together.
On June 15, we have several opportunities to serve with our outreach partners. Each opportunity takes about 3 hours on Saturday morning. We can add more opportunities as spots fill up, but for now, we have three great opportunities to partner with our friends who are doing good work to bring hope to others in Arlington.
- Afghan Grocery Delivery: We partner each month with Comunidad to deliver groceries to recently arrived Afghan refugees. Volunteers will be placed in pairs, and each pair will deliver groceries to 4-6 families. Children are welcome to join with their parents. If it’s your first time volunteering for this food distribution, you will be asked to complete a background check.
- Office Clean Out with Coracle and Central Union Mission: Central Union Mission is moving to South Arlington to open a “Comprehensive Family Resource Center” at the ministry center at Greenbrier Baptist Church, where our friends at Incarnation Anglican and Coracle have office space. For 140 years, Central Union Mission has brought gospel hope to Washington DC, providing food, clothing, addiction support groups, after-school programs for children, Christian discipleship and fellowship, computer access, education and computer training, ESL classes, job training and placement, legal aid, parenting classes, and access to social workers. They have asked us to help them clean out some office space to prepare for their move.
- Setting up a computer lab for Comunidad: Comunidad is opening a new community center at Kingsley Commons (7308 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA). The center will host an adult literacy center this summer. They are inviting 5 people to set up tables and laptops on Saturday, June 15.
-
Support a Family in Need: A local family with a single mother and 5 kids has faced significant challenges since moving to the area. They are connected to the Afghan grocery delivery program and has asked if Restoration can help. Some Restoration members have worked with the family to create an Amazon wish list. If you would like to donate the items, please purchase the item off the registry wish list. With the exception of sheets, towels, mattresses, if you have a similar item in good condition that you’d like to donate, please bring them to Restoration.

We are signed up to help from 7:45-8:45 but don’t know the address and where we are supposed to report.
