The Race+Reconciliation Team at Restoration has chosen a book (Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi) and three movies (A Million Miles Away (PG), Origin (PG-13) and Minari (PG-13) for our church to read, watch, and discuss together this summer. We will read or watch on our own and then gather in Resto member homes for an evening of dinner and discussion.
Who’s Invited? We think the discussions will be great for everyone at Restoration who is high school aged and older. We hope high schoolers will join in!
When are they happening? We have picked three dates to host the discussions. You will need to choose either the book discussion or the movie discussion! The remaining dates are:
Wednesday, August 14 7:00 to 9:00 pm
- Book group will discuss Homegoing chapters 11 – 15
- Movie group will discuss Minari
How many people? We are limiting the discussion size to 12 people for each group. We will keep a waitlist if it fills over 12 and we will create additional groups if they are needed. Please sign up for the groups below.
What’s next? Check the book out from the library, purchase it from your favorite bookseller, find the movies on your favorite streaming service, sign up for a particular discussion group and get ready for a really good evening with wonderful Resto people!
Questions? Contact Lillian Wong.
