Pakistan for tea

I recently had the privilege of spending two weeks in Pakistan and there are not one, but two upcoming events where you can find out what happened and what’s going on there with the church and local believers in the city where we were. 

The first will be

Saturday, June 1 at 7pm at our house- stories, food, slideshow. Contact me for directions. 

And the second opportunity is

Saturday, June 15 at 7pm: ‘Faisal’ our host in Pakistan and headmaster of ‘Blue Tree’ school will be here in Arlington! My teammates Harry and Julie will also be there.  Contact me for details and location. 

Our small team of three spent our time visiting with local churches and staying with a Pakistani family that has invested years, their whole lives really, in their city.  ‘Faisal and Rebecca’ (not their real names) were born into Christian families, married young, had four kids and Faisal became a teacher. Eventually through the encouragement and support of friends he started a Christian primary school there in the city to provide quality education for anyone who applied.  There are now 250 students at the school in grades pre-K through 7th ‘class’ with 75% of them coming from Muslm households.  They are hearing the gospel and learning about the Bible.

‘Faisal’s’ brother, an evangelist, has started a satellite school in the countryside 2 years ago to reach the children of brickmakers who would otherwise have no education at all. One of the second graders we met is 13 years old because she has never been to school until this school was started. It meets under a sheet tied on poles which gets a bit hot when its hot and cold when its cold and very soggy when it rains! Would love to tell you about opportunities to be involved with these people and the schools… there is a lot going on!

Everyday we were there was full of stories and quiet assurance of God’s working.
