At the end of David’s sermon, words from song Day by Day, from the 1970’s musical Godspell came to mind:
Day by day/Day by day
Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray:
See thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow three more nearly
Day by day.
For some of us, making the declaration to give it all to God is hard because we know we will backslide and that our focus will become, at times, distracted. But the words of the song are an achievable call to draw closer to God and refocus on Him, daily.
Thanks Erica. First, I love Godspell. Seriously. Second, Yes! It’s not a ‘one shot and then you are done’ affair. It is ever-growing, constant, day by day, a little more, presenting yourself to God. For this is only reasonable.
