Monday thoughts
Hey friends,
It was so good to see so many of you yesterday… Thanks for coming out even in the heat! It wasn’t too bad inside yesterday, but you’ll be glad to know that the A/C folks are here as I write this, so next Sunday should be even better.
Lots of fun stuff happened yesterday. A few of the highlights for me:
- Having the Rev. Julie Cate Kelly lead our service. We’re so blessed to have Julie, Patrick, and Cecilia as members of Restoration, and it was a special treat to have Julie up front yesterday. I really appreciated the thoughtful way she led us into worship and prayer.
- Cellos! In what I think was a Restoration first, we had cellists as part of our worship teams at all three services. Thanks, Jodie and Kelly, for sharing your gifts with us!
- Laughter. As I read the Esther passage yesterday (ch. 6), I loved that you all laughed when I got to the part about Xerxes instructing Haman to honor Mordecai. Because it’s really funny. And I love the opportunities we have together to discover the Bible in all of its dimensions — beautiful, troubling, inspiring, and, yes, funny.
- Nats Game! Ok, so it didn’t happen Sunday… but we announced it Sunday. Join us Wednesday night for Restoration’s night at the ball park! The Nationals are playing the Marlins, and Restoration will be there. Meet us at 6:30 in front of the main gate. Tickets are $17 at the door. It’ll be tons of fun!
Have a great week.
