David, I’ll come over to your house and eat cheetos for breakfast with you when you long to be in Turkey. We had some creative breakfast options while in Moldova.

I could go for a cup of tea with a sugar cube or two and some cherries this afternoon. Missing the marathon goodness that marked our time…

Right now, at the end of June 2013, “eating what is set before me” looks like: finishing my annual project, welcoming a new roommate, and continuing to listen (when I’d prefer that the Lord would just ‘give me an answer already’) all the while managing frustration and disappointment.

I often find it challenging to stay engaged and content. Probably a rationalizing excuse, but anyone else have the personality quirk (sometimes a strength, but often a weakness too) which really prefers unique and fresh experiences? Sometimes a raised ‘flexibility’ bar is exciting!

I need to grow in my ability to ‘eat’ the routine. Not that I’m advocating a deadening to my sense of adventure. I just have to believe there is an excitement to be discovered through fidelity in my labor and faithfulness in my focus.
