Good for you!
Recently, we received word that the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) has chosen Restoration as its 2011 Volunteer Group of the Year for 2011. What an honor!
Serving AFAC has been one of the primary ways that we’ve been connecting people to the needs around us over the last two years. So many of you have been involved in so many ways:
- Collecting surplus produce on Sunday afternoons from the Columbia Pike farmers market and readying it for distribution to AFAC clients
- Working in the warehouse
- Helping clients with grocery distribution
- Raising money
- Using the new raised beds in the side yard to grow produce to donate to AFAC
To all of you who have been involved with serving AFAC in any way, THANK YOU!!! I am so proud of our church and of the ways so many of you are reaching out to meet the needs of our community.
We’ll be receiving the award at AFAC’s annual Volunteer Picnic this Sunday, June 5th, from 5-7pm. You’re welcome to come celebrate all the good work that AFAC is doing in Arlington!
