words fail us
As the news and images pour out of Connecticut, words fail us. I am overwhelmed by my facebook feed– the number of people who simply wrote: ‘Come Lord Jesus.’ Or, ‘why?’ Or, ‘words fail us’.
This afternoon, I am writing a sermon about Hebrews 2: 10-18 which begins…
For it was fitting that He, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons and daughters to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering…
How do you preach on incarnation in light of what happened today?
How do you not preach on incarnation in light of what happened today?
Our hope is that God, through Jesus, experienced all that we experience. He is not a stranger to our sadness, our suffering, our heartache, our pain.
But, we have a lot of questions for God.
But this is our hope: Because He himself suffered… He is able to help.
Please, help.
A word about Sunday– sometimes we go to church just to be with people who believe something. Not because we are going to get a good answer for why horrible things happen. Sometimes, we need to just be with people who believe there is hope [even if we don’t feel very hopeful or very excited about their God]. Church is a good place to mourn, to be angry, to wonder why, to not have any words.
Sometimes we just go to be in a place where people hope. You are welcome to just be… at Restoration.
Let me know if you want to talk.
